Plant Reliability Optimisation (PRO)
The Plant Reliability Optimisation (PRO) is a water reduction program designed to optimise equipment reliability and performance while providing a baseline measurement of water and power consumption against which to implement recommendations for water and energy reductions.
The reduction of water use has become a major focal point for industries around the world. Economic concerns as well as environmental performance (ISO 14000, EMAS) and legislation such as the IPPC are driving the need to reduce water consumption and effluent discharges.
For industries reliant on roto dynamic equipment (including pumps, agitators and mixers) water use is often high. ‘Flushwater’ can count for as much as 15% of total water demand but such figures can be dramatically reduced with an increased focus and today’s advanced sealing systems.
The PRO program is designed to identify the Best Efficiency Point (BEP) for equipment traditionally high in water consumption, where efficiency is defined as the ability to transfer energy from the driving unit (motor) to the fluid.
Through a process of ultra sonic flow testing, computerised analysis and equipment identification and survey, we can establish baseline MTBR and current cost data – and provide recommendations in support of typical objectives to decrease water usage, decrease effluent treatment, decrease makeup water need, increase time between seal repair, minimise leakage and establish standards.
